DESCRIPTION

TPicShow is an image slider control with 172 transitional effects in pure Delphi code. The major characteristics of TPicShow are:

  • Image transition can be controlled programmatically
  • Image can be stretched or centered in the client area of the control
  • Control can show a background image as centered, stretched, or tiled
  • Transition process can use a separate thread
  • New transitional effects can be easily implemented and added.

TDBPicShow is the data-aware version of TPicShow with the ability to load bitmap, jpeg, and metafile images (natively) from a blob field.

WHAT'S NEW
Version 4.05 (January 27, 2007)
The Channel Mix effect is added. There is also a slight reordering of the effects.
Version 4.04 (July 1, 2006)
The AV Exception in adding a JPEG image to a blob field using TDBPicShow is fixed.
Version 4.03 (April 28, 2006)
Four more new transitional effects are added.
Version 4.02 (April 24, 2006)
Fifteen new transitional effects are included. Also, I added light reflection effect to the unroll transitions, so that these effects look much better.
Version 4.01 (April 16, 2006)
The code optimized some bit more, and a new method added. In addition, the demo program reconstructed.
Version 4.00 (April 14, 2006)
The control drastically optimized, so that the slide show of large images is possible now. There are also some new transitional effects, and some new properties in this update. By the way, the demo is updated too. On the demo program, double click on a picture to show the picture in full screen mode.
Version 3.10 (November 25, 2004)
The new property ExactTiming added to the components' interface.
Version 3.09 (August 12, 2004)
The wrong signature of bitmap files fixed. [+]
Version 3.08 (December 6, 2003)
The native support for Windows Metafile (WMF) and Enhanced Metafile (EMF) image formats added to TDPicShow.
Version 3.07 (November 17, 2003)
The algorithm of rotational effects (119..122) was optimized.
Version 3.06 (September 8, 2003)
The bug in setting StyleName property was fixed.
Version 3.05 (July 26, 2003)
The definition of the OnStart event changed. Now the event passes the original image and its underlying screen as two bitmaps to the handler. This change makes you able to modify the image just before transition starts. The other improvement in the new release is the new property OverDraw. When this property is True, the control draws the new transition over the last one, otherwise before starting a new transition it clears the screen to the background.
Version 3.04 (July 12, 2003)
The off-screen bitmap was not initialized, and because of that in some cases for the first transition a white pixel appeared on the top left corner of the control. The bug has fixed now.
Version 3.03 (July 6, 2003)
The bug of corrupted image that was happened because of loading an image in TDBPicShow fixed.
Version 3.02 (May 29, 2003)
The bad result on rendering stretched images on Windows 2000 and XP fixed.
Version 3.01 (May 8, 2003)
The code related to termination of the thread optimized.
Version 3.00 (February 16, 2003)
In purpose of adding new effects easier, functions related to transition effects moved to a separate unit. By adding 23 new effects the number of total effects reached to 150.
Version 2.81.3 (January 11, 2003)
Reported bugs in TDBPicShow were fixed.
Version 2.81.2 (October 25, 2002)
The components prevented Windows for being shutdown.

Version 2.81.1 (September 28, 2002)
A minor bug with a major effect on proportional scaling of the image was fixed.

Version 2.81 (September 26, 2002)
There was a memory leak on loading large images into the control and TDBPicShow had a race condition problem on the thread. Both of these bugs were fixed. In this release, I have added a new event called OnGetGraphicClass to TDBPicShow. By providing a handler for this event, TDBPicShow can now load any TGraphic compatible image into the control. By the way, I also optimized the rotate effect algorithm (119..122).

Version 2.80 (September 10, 2002)
Control's thread optimized. The control no longer calls the Delphi Synchronize function to synchronize itself with the main VCL thread. As a result, no more deadlock, faster thread termination, lower CPU usage, and smoother transitions. However, because of this change, the control can no longer be compiled as a non-windowed control. Also, this version can safely change the value of Manual, Progress, and Reverse properties as the last step of a transition. A new event OnStop, has been added which occurs when a transition is either completed or aborted.

Version 2.67 (June 5, 2002)
Bug in releasing the thread fixed.

Version 2.66 (May 9, 2002)
Memory leak bug fixed.

Version 2.65 (March 8, 2002)
A minor bug in effect no 118 (Fade) fixed.
Version 2.64 (February 9, 2002)
A little improvement in performance.
Version 2.63 (January 14, 2002)
The last update had produced a bug in the control's thread, which was fixed. In addition, a new event OnStart has been added. Please read the ReadMe file (and demo) for description of the new event.
